Heritage Team

Marty Lagina, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. Marty has a BSME from Michigan Technological University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan. With over 30 years experience in the energy business, he was a founding partner in the creation of Terra Energy in 1984 which was a pioneer in the exploration and development of the Antrim shale natural gas resources of Michigan. Terra successfully developed over $3 billion of oil and natural gas resources. As majority owner, Marty oversees all fundamental aspects of Heritage’s wind energy business. Marty is a past chairman of the Michigan Oil and Gas Association and was appointed by Governor Granholm to the Great Lakes Wind Council. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Michigan and a Member of the State Bar.

Craig Tester, founder of Heritage and Vice-President/Manager of Rock Management Group. Craig’s involvement with Heritage is largely focused on analyzing and establishing longer-term business strategies and relationships. He has a BSME from Michigan Technological University. As a founding partner of Terra Energy with Marty, Craig has a wealth of technical knowledge in the development and operation of energy resources. He is responsible for oversight of Heritage in relation to technical engineering aspects of wind farm development projects.

Rick Wilson, V.P. Operations. With over 20 years experience in project management, land use planning and development, Rick facilitates and implements all aspects and phases of Heritage’s business. Rick was part of the Heritage start-up team and led the development and operations of the Stoney Corners Wind Farm. He is also responsible for the Greenfield development activities related to over 500MW of wind energy projects throughout Michigan. Prior to working with Heritage, Rick was integrally involved in the farmland and natural area conservation efforts of Michigan. From 1993 to 2004 he worked with the Little Traverse, Leelanau and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancies in addition to the Michigan Farm Bureau.He has a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Denison University and a Masters in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from North Carolina State University.

Alan Kostrzewa, Lead Landman. Alan has over twenty-five years experience as a Landman in connection with the oil and gas industry and, more recently, the wind energy business. He has extensive experience negotiating, acquiring and structuring leases. Alan manages and coordinates Heritage’s land lease acquisitions and fee purchases. Among other things, he coordinates and oversees leasing agent activity, negotiates lease terms with individual landowners, secures surface use agreements and rights-of-way from private landowners and public agencies, among other land-related activities.

Pam Miller, Controller. Pam is responsible for the financial accounting and business management aspects of the business. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ohio State University and has over 15 years of experience in accounting. Contact Pam: Pam@heritagewindenergy.com.

Xiomara Cordoba, Project Manager. Xio is responsible for project planning, environmental due diligence and permitting. She has over 10 years of experience in process and project management involving non-profit and for profit applications. She also has extensive experience working with governmental agencies in planning and permitting. Prior to working with Heritage, Xio worked in land conservation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from EAFIT University, in her native Colombia, and a Master of Science in Geography from Michigan State University. Contact Xio: Xio@heritagewindenergy.com

Steve Thoms, Stoney Corners Wind Farm Manager. Steve’s responsibilities at our Stoney Corners Wind Farm, in McBain, MI, include site safety, maintaining balance of plant, performance reporting, communicating with the community and overseeing all operations. He has five years’ experience in the wind industry starting in 2007 with the development of Stony Corners substation, and installation of turbines and electrical infrastructure at the facilty. He is a licensed journeyman electrician and attended Northwestern Michigan College and NMC Mtech, where he studied electrical theory and applied science. Contact Steve: Steve@heritagewindenergy.com

Bob Powell, Garden Wind Farm Site Technician and Manager. Bob is responsible for the day to day operations of the Garden Wind Farm in Garden Michigan. He has over 35 years’ experience leading and working in a variety of trades in the Building, Commissioning, Facilities, Industrial and Science exploration trades. Bob was a member of the Team at the South Pole Station that successfully completed the Ice Cube Neutrino Project in 2011 and has worked at the Pole since 2006. His work has taken him worldwide since leaving the United States Navy with honorable discharge in 1985.
